Ouanessa Nana: Poems

Hindsight

The destructive lair of the clench,

the vivaciousness of trust,

the murmur of the term,

and images of him tethered

to her afterthoughts fabricated

her simpering paranoia.

Head to Toe

Dead of the night,

the stars hauled its boundless frigid teeth

across her skin.

The biting snap shackled her head to toe

in ascending affliction.

Bulky cargo chips her down

until she’s only fragments, gasping

into her buried feet.

The dark ogled at her bruising fingertips constantly,

the coils of luster still settling on her tongue.

Her body crumbles in on her sore and grated chest,

floating on the blurred and crushed wreckage.

Champagne

A fleeting moment, to covet their meager flesh in glint

rising, fizzy in a world submerged in exhaust.

Inscribed as a menace, my cerebrum swerved, perched upward with

a wheeze, rattling in the steep draft of suffering and contempt.
